Organ recital in aid of the Restoration Fund

An organ recital is to be given by Roger Judd, Hereford Diocesan Organ Advisor,
Organist Emeritus at St Michael’s, Tenbury and former organist at St George’s Chapel,
Windsor on Saturday August 24th at 3:00pm.
Roger Judd began his musical training as a chorister at Winchester Cathedral. As an Organ
Scholar at Pembroke College, Cambridge, he studied the organ with Sir David Willcocks.
He was Master of the Music at St Michael’s College, Tenbury, until 1985, when he took up
the post of Assistant Organist at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, combining this post
with teaching and giving recitals, and making recordings with the choir. He was the
organist for several royal occasions. On his retirement he returned to Herefordshire where
he is Diocesan Organ Adviser and continues to give recitals widely.
Bosbury is fortunate to house a historic musical instrument. Very few churches have
organs of this varied specification. Roger Judd will be giving us a programme which
demonstrates the palette of sounds available.

A new organ fund target…

We have been able to effect some modest but very important repairs to the organ which have rendered it more reliable and suitable for recitals. The next recital, to be given by Roger Judd, is on Saturday August 24th at 3pm.

Thanks to generous donations and fundraising the organ fund currently stands at £8500. Our next target is to fit a new blower. This will supply enough air to enable the organist literally to “pull out all the stops” without danger of the instrument wheezing and sounding out of tune. The cost of a new blower, which has to be ordered from continental makers, is £12000 plus (recoverable)VAT.

The terms are 50% deposit on order, 50% on completion 6 months later.

Any donations or pledges of whatever size which can help us achieve this target will be gratefully received by our Treasurer Rob Prestidge 01531 640995.

If you want to know more about Bosbury’s historic church organ please visit the church where there are leaflets on display.

Tea & Cake in the Holidays

Bosbury Brew Summer Break

The amazing Bosbury Brew team are taking a well earned break for the summer holidays.

Their last session was 23rd July and they will be opening up again on September 10th. We thank them for all that they do, for the delicious soups, toasties and cakes, and the opportunity to meet and chat, as well as sourcing information about local services. The Community Support Officers and Fire Officers will be calling in regularly in the autumn so if you have any concerns bring them along.

Bosbury Brew would always welcome extra help, whether donations of cakes or being available on the day.

Please contact them via their Facebook page.

Cafe Church – Sunday 21st July and Sunday 18th August

Café Church is a quiet relaxed service, where we sit around the café tables at the back of the church rather than in the pews. If a formal church service isn’t for you this might be the answer. It’s become a very welcoming space where we can share our news, ponder on the place of faith in today’s world and the things that affect our lives.

All of the family are welcome, there are toys and plenty of space for the kids.

There will be coffee, tea, croissants etc from 9.45.

We’ll be reading a Bible story, sharing our thoughts, singing some songs, saying some prayers.

Hope to see you there!
